Vignan's Foundation for Science, Technology & Research (Deemed to be University)
AFST(I), Guntur Chapter was founded in the year 2023 and is the latest chapter of AFST(I). It is a dynamic chapter homed in Vignan's Foundation for Science,Technology and Research with around 30 members from various food industries, academia and research organisations including student members pursuing higher studies in Food Science and Technology. The chapter conducts monthly lectures by eminent speakers in the field of Food Science and Technology. The chapter celebrates World Food Day on the 16th of October every year by organising conferences with the theme announced by the Food and Agriculture Organization. 2023, being the International Year of the Millets, the chapter creates awareness for the increase in production and consumption of millets. The chapter conducts Fudo Fiestas, essay writing competitions, technical quizzes, webinars, national and international seminars for students and gives them numerous opportunities in oral and poster presentations, along with project expos. It aims to motivate the students to publish research papers and abstracts in prestigious journals and enlighten the locals from the rural towns of Guntur in the field of Food Science and Technology and provides an interactive platform with experts in the field. The chapter felicitates the outstanding AFST(I) members from Guntur chapter for their contribution in the area of Food Science and Technology every year. It inspires the young generation towards the research and development of safe and healthy food for humankind.
