AFSTI Delhi Celebrates World Food Safety Day 2025 with a Focus on Science and Innovation

New Delhi, June 7, 2025 – The Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India), Delhi Chapter, in association with the Department of Food Technology, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee College for Women, University of Delhi, marked World Food Safety Day 2025 with a thematic event titled “Food Safety: Science in Action.”

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Dipti Sharma, Vice President of AFSTI Delhi Chapter, who invited the President, Dr. Dinkar B. Kamble, to introduce the keynote speaker. Dr. Kamble presented an overview of AFSTI’s national initiatives and emphasized the importance of World Food Safety Day in raising awareness and driving action in food safety and sustainability.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Desham Kodandaram Reddy, Assistant Professor at the University of Delhi, who spoke on the event’s central theme, “Food Safety: Science in Action.” His address highlighted the crucial role of science and innovation in advancing food safety systems and creating sustainable food futures.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from students of Sharda University, who presented innovative food products, thematic posters, and creative reels. Their presentations reflected deep engagement with the theme and showcased youthful perspectives on food innovation.

The event was smoothly moderated by Dr. Dipti Sharma, with special coordination by Mr. Shantanu Gupta and Ms. Vipasha from IIT Delhi.

The program effectively brought together academia, professionals, and students to reinforce the importance of collaboration and innovation in achieving global food safety and nutrition goals.
