This was another programme on WFS Day on 7th June 2021 jointly organized by College of Food Technology, Thumburmoozhy, Chalakudy, Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University and Indian Dairy Association Kerala Chapter online in Zoom platform. Competitions in Cartoon making, Flash talk, Photography, Slogan making and Short video making were conducted for college students in which 215 entries were received from all over India.
Cartoon Competition Theme: “Eat to Live or Live to Eat”. Fifty three participants participated in the event from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. First Prize- Aiswarya V.S, Kerala Agricultural University. Cash prize Rs 1,000/
Flash Talk Theme: “Safe Food in COVID Times”. Thirty three participants from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh participated. Seven top participants were selected for the final presentation in zoom online.
First Prize- Anuraj P.R, Kerala Agricultural University. Cash prize Rs 1,000/.
Photography Competition Theme: “Homely Foods-Safe and Wholesome” to stress the nutritional richness and quality of various homely dishes. There were 83 participants from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. First Prize- Rahul A, College of Food Technology, KVASU. Cash prize Rs 1,000/.
Slogan Making Competition Theme: “Role of Food Safety in Pandemic Situation”. Participants were from Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan. First Prize- Namitha Jose, St. Theresa’s College, Ernakulam. Cash prize Rs 1,000/.
Short Video Making Competition Theme: “Safe Food: Traditional Tit Bits”. First Prize- Haritha H, Kelappaji College of Agri Engg & Technology, Kerala Agricultural University. Cash prize Rs 1,000/.
The inauguration session of FOODSALVATIO' 21 was held on June 7, 2021 on Zoom online platform. The event had a total of nearly 300 registered participants from various states in India. Hon. Vice-Chancellor of KVASU, Prof. (Dr.) M. R. Saseendranath inaugurated the function and delivered the Food Safety Day message and announced the results of the competitions. AFST(I) Thrissur Chapter sponsored the cash award of Rs 1,000/ (Rs One Thousand only) each to the five first prize winners. Dr. P. Sudheer Babu (Registrar, KVASU) Dr. M. K. Narayanan (Director of Entrepreneurship, KVASU), Dr. S. N. Rajakumar (President, IDA, Kerala Chapter & Dean, CDST, Mannuthy) and Dr. George. T. Oommen, (President, AFST (I), Thrissur Chapter) felicitated the function and congratulated the winners.
Following the inaugural ceremony, a scientific session with webinar on “Initiatives of FSSAI for ensuring safe food” was conducted. Mrs. Dhanya K N, Deputy Director, FSSAI Cochin Region delivered the keynote address.
