Executive Committee Meeting (July 7, 2022) - Minutes

 

Venue: KJ Auditorium, SPIC Bioprocess Center, Center for Biotechnology, Anna University,

Taramani

Time: 4.30 – 6.00 PM

The meeting was brought to order with the following agendas:

1. Meeting and discussion with FSSAI South India Director for activities

2. Election of office bearers

3. Conduct of FOSTAC TOT training sessions in Chennai

4. Initiate event for promoting Start-ups in food science and tech

 

  1. Vibrant Meeting was attended by 15 members and discussed on various topics around Eat Right India and how to contribute to food safety through academia
  2. Meeting and discussion with newly appointed FSSAI South India Director, Dr. Sanu Jacob covered various opportunities and activities to collaborate with FSSAI and other related organizations with reference to food safety, quality and motivating students and young professionals.
  3. Following office bearers and committee members were elected unanimously to continue the activities,

  1. Start-up in food science and tech will be promoted by AFSTI in association with SICCI, Innovation cell TN and other related organizations will be brought together – NABARD, MSME, SIDCO – Mr. Manivvannan A will be responsible for taking it forward.
  2. FOSTAC TOT training programmes for specific products will be conducted in September 2022. Specific areas of interest will be indicated to FSSAI with number of interested candidates (tentative) for organizing the event. Google form will be circulated to know the count and areas of interest from AFSTI members and food industry professionals
  3. Students and young graduates will be motivated and trained for food analyst professions. Awareness will be created on Digital Mitra and Hygiene Mitra among the academic community
  4. NFDB sponsored fish kiosks – Proposal will be sent from related fishing communities – Dr. Usha Antony and Dr. Kalpana will be taking it forward by sending proposal.
  5. PCQI lead instructor training – This can be conducted in near future and have qualified instructors (Dr. Sanu and Dr. Nandhini as trainers).
