Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) – Allahabad Chapter

Centre of Food Technology initiated Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) Allahabad Chapter in August 2016. The inauguration of the chapter was done on 9th January 2017 in the presence of Dr. B.B. Borse, Hon. Secretary, AFST (I), Prof. Neelam Yadav, Director, IPS, UoA and Dr. S.K. Singh, Head, Dept. of Food Process Engg., SHUATS, Allahabad. The objective of the chapter is the advancement of all aspects of Food Science and Technology through lectures, meetings, seminars and conferences directed towards food professionals. Presently, the chapter has 20 life members, more than 30 full members and 35 student members.

The Chapter has organized following events since inception:

  1. Two day workshop on “Fats & Oils” during 17th -18th Aug 2017.
  2. Celebrated a three day event to mark the National Nutrition Week and Swachhta Pakhwada during 7-9th September 2017.
  3. Celebrated the “Diamond Jubilee Year” of AFST(I) by organizing a three day workshop on “Codex” from 14th -16th November 2017.
  4. Organized National Food Conference on “Agriculture and Technology Innovation for Nutritional Security” from 9th to 10th Feb 2018 in collaboration with Centre of Food Technology, University of Allahabad
  5. Celebrated the National Nutrition Week on 7th September 2018 supporting the Eat Right initiative of FSSAI on the theme “Aaj se thoda kam”. Two events Nukkad Naatika Pratiyogita and Poster Competition were organized for the students.
