AFST(I) Fellow

Nomination invited for Fellow of AFST(I) -2020

(Fellow applications without nomination will not be considered)

The association has pleasure in inviting nomination from people to be conferred as “Fellow of Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India)” [FAFST]. This is to honour those who have made significant contributions to the progress of Food Science / Technology.

Eligibility:

1.     The aim is to honour people of outstanding merit who have contributed significantly in the field of Food Science /Technology including R & D, product/project development, transfer of technology and marketing. The merit of contribution will be the main criterion.

2.     Among the Fellows to be nominated every year, 70% will be from AFST(I) members and remaining 30% may be from non-members

Nominations:

1.     Central Executive Committee members of AFST(I) are not eligible to be nominated as a Fellow.

2.     The nomination should be proposed by 5 AFST(I) members who have held the membership for a minimum of 5 years or by 2 Fellows of the Association.

3.     Any regular or life member of AFST(I) can propose the nomination for only one Fellow in a particular year. The nomination letter must contain sufficient justification for conferring the coveted fellowship on the candidate proposed.

4.     Four Copies of brief bio-data of the nominee highlighting the Scientific or Technological achievements in the area of Food Science / Technology, supported by a list of publications or other achievements all together not exceeding 15 pages and 1 copy of Self Evaluation Score Sheet (Form-A, available at www.afsti.org under ‘Awards’) along with supporting documents must accompany the nominations.

5.     Form - B is to be additionally filled in for industry contribution, if any.

Selection of Fellows:

           The nominations received will be placed before an expert committee, appointed by the CEC for suitable recommendations. CEC by majority decision will finalize the names of Fellows for each year limited to maximum of 2 numbers. The decision of CEC in this matter will be final.

Privilege of Fellow:

The Fellow shall be entitled to the following rights:

1.     The awardee will be entitled to add FAFST after their name as short title.

2.     To be present and vote at all general body meetings.

3.     To propose and recommend the candidates for Fellow of the Association.

4.     To receive gratis copies of one of the publications of AFST(I).

5.     To fill any office of AFST(I) duly elected.

6.     To be nominated to any committee of AFST(I).

7.     To offer papers and communications to be presented before the meeting of the Association.

8.     The title will remain for life time of the member.

 

Cessation of Fellow:

1.     Any Fellow may resign from their title of the Association by signifying their wish to do so by a letter addressed to the Hon. Secretary, AFST(I), which will be placed before the CEC for acceptance.

2.     If the Association comes to know of any activity detrimental to the interest and well being of the Association, the CEC will have the right to withdraw the title.

Conferring as Fellows:

The Fellow will be conferred with a Citation at the time of the AGBM or at any other suitable function of the Association.

The Association may invite a Fellow, to deliver special lectures in the area of their specialization either at the AGBM or any other function arranged by the AFST(I).

Prof. V. Subrahmanyan Industrial Achievement Award

This award is instituted by AFST(I) to commemorate the sterling contribution by late Dr V Subrahmanyan, the Founder Director of CFTRI, Mysuru. in the field of Food Science & Technology, that laid the foundation of a nascent Food Processing Industry in the country. The award recognises an individual for his/her contribution to the development of Agro based and allied industries in India.

The guidelines for the award are:

a)      This award is meant to recognize outstanding achievement in promotion of Food Processing Industry.

b)     The nominee / applicant should have proven significant contributions to the enrichment of Food Science / Technology and the development of agro-based food and allied industries in India.

ATTENTION STUDENTS

Applications are invited for AFST(I) Education and Publication Trust Scholarship from the students, who are in the Final year of Post-Graduation (2021-22) regular course in Food Science/Technology. Prospective Students may download the Form-H (Application Form) and Form – G (Self Evaluation Score sheet for Scholarship) from the website: www.afsti.org  under ‘Awards’.

  1. There will be 2 Awards for each geographical ZONE of our country (Total of 12 scholarships). ZONE wise list is appended below.
  2. Please note that only a maximum of 2 applications should be forwarded by an Institute / Organization. If any Institute / Organization forwards more than 2 applications, all the applications will be rejected and will not be considered for the award.
  3. Form-H (Applications / Nominations) should duly be accompanied with Form G along with the appropriate documents.

           The filled-in Application Form-H and Form–G along with supporting documents, aptly forwarded by Head/ Principal of the Institution certifying that the student is a bonafide student of the Institution. Dr K R Bhattacharya Memorial Travel Grant

AFST(I)-FSSAI Award

 

AFST(I)-FSSAI Award-2021

For contributions in the field of Food Safety

Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India) [AFST(I)]  and Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has introduced the AFST(I)-FSSAI award for the contributions in the field the of Food Safety. The award was instituted to encourage distinguished Scientists and Technologists for their contributions in the area of Food Safety. Applications / Nomination are invited from Government / Private / Semi Government Sector/NGOs personnel.

Eligibility Criteria:

The award will be given to the professionals, who have made notable contribution in the area of Food Safety that has an impact on commercial legal food safety standards for the betterment of human health. The contribution(s) shall be for the work under taken in India during the last 5 years preceding the year of award. The contributions listed in applications shall be accompanied with appropriate document to justify the claims.
