AFSTI, Chennai Chapter rises again from its long dormancy. It is a great occasion for the food professionals as it is a superb opportunity to group together and benefit from each other’s association. The revival of the Chennai Chapter could not have been at a more opportune moment as food science, technology and other associated fields are booming. At this joyous moment, we must pause a little and thank our senior visionaries’ Dr Raghuramiah and his team who started and nurtured the Chapter.
The revival started with a small meeting at Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) office at Chennai during 15 th February 2018. It was initiated and propelled by Mr Muthumaran, Director, FSSAI (Western Region) and the AFST(I) President Dr Prabodh S Halde.
The AFSTI (Chennai) Chapter was formally launched on 2nd March 2018 at Anna University, KJ Auditorium, Taramani Campus with lectures by Mr Shriram, Director, IRCTC and by Mr Muthumaran, Director, FSSAI. Subsequent to the lecture sessions, office bearers for the period 2017-18 were elected unanimously. On 27th April 2018, the Executive Committee met and chalked out a plan for conducting seminars and workshops during 2018.
The AFSTI (Chennai) Chapter will be head quartered at Food Technology Division under Department of Bio Technology, Anna University.
